THE GLOVERS TODAY

Membership of the Incorporation has historically been limited to the 14year old sons of Glovers. Our total numbers have remained steady between 50-60, with around 20 attending the twice yearly meetings.

It is one of the characteristics of the Incorporation to look after the welfare of its members, and provisions within our rules provide for modest annuities to be paid annually to members and to widows.

The business of the Incorporation is to sustain its existence, to be considerate to the welfare needs of its members, and to keep the history of the Incorporation alive, as part of Perth’s history.

The Incorporation is also keen to support young people and the preservation of handcraft skills. The most recent initiative provided funds to Perth Academy, who creatively encouraged their art students to contribute to the Hand in Glove exhibition which was displayed in the Fair Maid’s House, the Scottish Parliament, and in Gloversville, USA.
